Team

Cartonama was conceived of, designed and developed by a small group of open-data and mapping enthusiasts.

  • Sajjad Anwar is a free software enthusiast, hacker and loves programming. He is a geography geek and is involved in the OpenStreetMap project and started GeoHackers, a neogeographer collective.
  • Pradeep Banavara
  • Sumandro Chattapadhyay is ajantriks; organised procrastinator, conceptual; interested in built environment, visualisation, story-telling and politics; blogs here and there; tweets too.
  • Kiran Jonnalagadda
  • Arun Ganesh isĀ an advocate of open geographic data and free information. Most of his work can be found on the Wikipedia and OpenStreetMaps projects. He also coordinates the BusRoutes.in Indian public transport route wiki project and preaches the benefits of public transportation to random people on the road. When not otherwise occupied, Arun can be found at the National Institute of Design, Bangalore, where he is nominally, a student.
  • Rahul Gonsalves runs Pixelogue, a tiny Bangalore-based design studio, and spends most of his time being wary of technology. He is interested in exploring whether participatory mapping techniques can actually destabilise existing power hierarchies in the information era.

Technology

Cartonama.in is built on WordPress, and uses the Sight Theme, from WP Shower, modified slightly. Typekit provides slightly more interesting and readable fonts than the browser defaults.

The logo is set in FF Din Medium, a font which takes strong cues from German motorway signs. The logo mark is derived from the Map Marker icon, courtesy of the Noun Project.
